about

This song is written in a parallel universe where James Bond CAN'T get the girls, and his most fearsome enemy 'Jaws' always ends up with the ladies...all jumbled up with a sideways look at the creaky Bond film 'Moonraker' (thanks for the tip off White Star Liners!). Anyway, in this one Jaws' gets a ladyfriend, and the actress' real-life name was Blanche Revalac, a French mime artist.

lyrics

Avalanche Blanche

When I met you out in Switzerland
You didn't understand, you wouldn't take my hand
It was Winter and the snow it fell
You were trapped in hell-I could tell
Your eyes were distant you showed resistance
To my advances, we follow what our heart says...

CHORUS:

And yours was distracted your head in a spin
While I was refracted through what you saw in him
And we will never get the chance, will we Blanche?

When I met you, you never said a word
My life became absurd and all my problems reoccurred
It was Winter and your heart it froze
You never did disclose those symphonies your mind composed

CHORUS TWO:

And you were distracted your head in a spin
Whilst I was contracted to be just like him
And we wont ever take that chance will we Blanche?

Avalanche...avalanche

When I met you out in Switzerland
You didn't understand, you wouldn't take my hand
It was Winter and the snow it fell

about

Lightning Dept. Brighton, UK

Lightning Dept. was all started by the misreading of a shop sign. Written over a 3 week period and recorded in just 3 days, 'things KEEP blowing UP' is a fresh, icy blast of pop magic. The bands love of Weezer, Lemonheads and Guided By Voices shines through on this 15 track album which is all over in 32 minutes of clipped majestic indie rock.
Look out for the CD and digital release in March 2012.
